Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions we are asked.
Is NUR Label an official label?
No. NUR Label is an independent private label. It is not an official label, not a public approval, and not BELAC-accredited at this stage. Its value rests on its method: cross-checked verifications, dated and tied to their source.
Does it replace the roadworthiness test or the Car-Pass?
No. The roadworthiness test and the Car-Pass are legal obligations, and each keeps its own role. NUR Label comes on top: it gathers and cross-checks the information available on the vehicle in a single file.
Is it a guarantee?
No. A NUR Label certification states what was verified, on what date and from which sources. It is not a guarantee on the vehicle. If a warranty exists (manufacturer or seller), the certificate states it on the basis of the contract.
Which sources are consulted?
The Belgian and European sources available for the vehicle concerned. Each finding on the certificate states where the information comes from, when the source can be provided.
What happens if a piece of information is missing?
It is shown as unavailable or not assessed. Information that could not be verified is never presented as verified.
What does “NUR” mean?
Numéro Unique de Référence: Unique Reference Number. It is the number of the file that follows the vehicle over time, from one owner to the next. It is neither the chassis number nor a report number.
What do the levels A, AA, AAA and NV mean?
A, AA and AAA are three rising levels of how solid the file is. NV means “not validated”: the file cannot be certified as it stands. NV does not mean fraud, danger or illegality, and the vehicle can be reassessed. The level describes the file, not the vehicle’s state of wear, and is always read together with the check mode.
Can the seller influence the result?
No. The result is established independently of the seller, including when the seller is the one who orders the verification. NUR Label does not sell vehicles and takes no commission on sales.
Which vehicles are covered?
Cars and vans, at opening.
Where will the service be available?
In Belgium from opening, in January 2027. The timetable then provides for the Benelux and France, followed by other countries of the European Union. These dates are targets, subject to change.
How long does a verification take?
The turnaround times for each service will be published at opening.
What happens to the certificate if the vehicle changes owner?
The NUR stays attached to the vehicle. The certificate, however, is linked to the identified holder: a change of holder requires a new certification, which is added to the file’s history.
Is my personal data visible?
No. The public verification of a certificate shows only what is necessary: the NUR number, the status, the mode, the level and the date. Never the name, the address or an identity document.
Can I already order a verification?
Not yet. The service is not open. You can ask to be notified at launch: we will write to you once only, at that time.
Opening in January 2027.
The service is not yet open. Leave us a message: those who have signed up will be notified first, and garages will be contacted as a priority.
